Hyderabad: In the wake of the death of a woman conductor who was allegedly pushed out of a moving bus by a passenger, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has made it mandatory for buses fitted with passenger doors to operate only with the doors properly closed.
The TGSRTC Mechanical Engineering Department has issued instructions to all Deputy Regional Managers to ensure that passenger doors in buses under their respective jurisdictions are in proper working condition and remain closed while the vehicles are in motion.
The move follows the death of 24-year-old Gundla Pravalika, a conductor at the Manuguru RTC depot, who succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment.
The incident occurred on October 25 near Mittagudem in Aswapuram mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Pravalika was performing her duties on a Manuguru-Bhadrachalam Palle Velugu bus when an argument reportedly broke out with passenger Banoth Mounika over a ticket for her son and the balance change from a Rs 100 note.
During the dispute, the passenger allegedly pushed Pravalika out of the moving bus, leaving her critically injured.
Following the tragedy, the corporation has directed field-level officials to strictly enforce passenger door safety measures to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
