Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy on Monday directed officials to strengthen scientific and humane stray dog management while safeguarding animal welfare during an inspection of the Fathullaguda Animal Care Centre (AMC).
While reviewing the facility’s infrastructure, services, animal-care arrangements and operational procedures, he instructed officials to expedite the pending construction of the animal shelter and make the centre fully operational at the earliest.
Officials were directed to effectively implement established protocols for sterilising and vaccinating stray dogs before releasing them at the locations where they were captured, in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and regulations.
The MMC Commissioner also inspected veterinary facilities, including ultrasound scanning equipment, and directed officials to ensure regular maintenance to keep the equipment operational.
The condition, cleanliness and maintenance of dog-catching vehicles were also examined. He called for regular cleaning and timely repairs to ensure the vehicles remained suitable for operations.
Progress on an electrical crematorium for the hygienic and scientific disposal of animal carcasses was also reviewed.
