Hyderabad: Faced with criticism over the sluggish implementation of renewable energy programmes, especially solar-power plants in the State, TGREDCO VC and MD Jithesh V Patil directed officials and implementing agencies to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy schemes.

The officials have been instructed to achieve the prescribed targets within the stipulated timelines. They were asked to identify field-level challenges and resolve them effectively in coordination with the concerned departments.

On Monday, the TGREDCO MD conducted a video conference with all District Managers and representatives of implementing agencies.

During the meeting, he reviewed the Model Solar Village Programme, installation of rooftop solar power plants, solarisation of agricultural pump sets, PM-KUSUM scheme, energy conservation activities and development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. He sought details from the officials regarding the work completed so far, current progress and pending issues.

Patil directed officials to expand the installation of rooftop solar power plants at the residences of eligible beneficiaries under the Gruha Jyothi scheme. He instructed District Managers to create awareness among eligible consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar and expedite the installation process. He also called for district-level action plans to achieve the targets under agricultural pump set solarisation and the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Officials have been instructed to expedite the process of obtaining necessary approvals from various departments and complete pending inspections without further delay. “District Managers and implementing agencies should work in close coordination to ensure timely execution of projects,” Patil said. He directed them to work with accountability and ensure progress in accordance with the prescribed targets and timelines. He stressed that collective efforts were essential for the effective implementation of the Government’s priority programmes.

He also called for effective awareness programmes across the State to promote energy conservation, efficient use of electricity and the adoption of renewable energy sources.
