Latest vetoing of Gaza ceasefire most hated in US history

Latest vetoing of Gaza ceasefire most hated in US history

The United States used its veto once again to block the approval of the Security Council resolution that demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

This time, the US was completely alone. Thirteen members (out of fifteen members) of the Security Council voted in favor of this resolution (which was proposed by the UAE), while the United Kingdom also abstained.

This meeting of the Security Council was held at the request of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres. Guterres’ responsible and courageous stance in supporting the homeless people of Gaza angered the Israelis in a way that thet lash out at him. Guterres, in a rare action (in the history of the United Nations), had called the Security Council for this meeting because of the Gaza crisis, as a threat to international peace and security, citing Article 99 of the United Nations Charter.

All members of the international community currently support the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza somehow at least avoid expressing their opposition to it in public. This stance came after witnessing the slaughtering of children and women in Gaza and the reflection of its news and images in mass media, which has global outcry.

This issue has even had a serious impact on the US and has made the majority of American youth and the supporters of the ruling party (Democratic Party) willing to support the ceasefire. For that, one can describe the latest US veto can as its most hated veto in history.

The killing of Palestinians in Gaza has sparked global anger at its main perpetrator, Israel, and the global wrath is going to snowball against the US in the region and in the entire world. The people in the West Asia region would blame the US and Israeli regime for killing every innocent person who is killed in Gaza

Hating the US is just one of the prices that it has to pay for supporting Israel. Other losses, including political, economic, psychological, and international losses, etc., also will put a question mark on the US support for the Zionist regime. What is the reason for paying such a heavy price for supporting an entity on the other side of the world?

An apparent answer to this question is to emphasize America’s interests as the main explanation for this support. These interests can include national interests (or current interests) or strategic interests (future interests). This answer is clearly favored by two completely different groups: Israel or its supporters fully support this justification because this response makes America’s support for Israel seem justifiable and reasonable, and especially it makes it understandable and defensible for the American people. Accordingly, in fact, America’s interests are achieved with such support. The other group is the anti-Westerners and anti-Americans who see America as an imperialist entity whose interests can only be secured through such criminal support.

Nevertheless, it is very hard to buy that justification that the US interests are secured by supporting Israel. It is a justification that is insisted by the supporters of Israel and many, including anti-Westerners, have bought it willingly. In my opinion, the most important factor in America’s unwavering support for Israel is the power and influence of the Israel lobby in the United States.

The lobby does not mean only institutions such as AIPAC, but it includes all Israelists who gain power and influence in power centers in the US. These people include capitalists, artists, scientists, directors, lawyers, analysts and a huge army of American elites (Jewish and non-Jewish) who are influential in the US  such as Congress, the White House, universities, Hollywood, mass media, social networks (such as Facebook). have seized and taken over.

This influence does not have a military, security or even secret aspect, but it was mainly obtained through democratic means as a result of activities of lobbies and individuals in America. From this perspective, as long as the power of the Israel lobby in US exists in the current level, one cannot expect changes in the US Middle East policy.

Basically, the only way to save the US and its freedom from the influence of Zionism is to curb the power of the Israel lobby. This matters a lot for the American Muslim community, which is encouraged to create such a change.

This population, which happens to be equal in number (six or seven million people) to the number of American Jews, unlike the Jewish competitors, lacks the necessary quality to compete with the Israel lobby. If this community gains influence, through the increasing share of Muslims in the scientific, artistic, news, etc. communities of America increases, the necessary power to counter the influence of the Jewish lobby and liberate America will be achieved.
