Hyderabad: The row over alleged irregularities in the procurement of mobile phones for Anganwadi workers intensified further, with Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka issuing a legal notice to BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao and also to his party, accusing the opposition of running a defamatory campaign against her.
She demanded that the BRS remove all social media posts against her and issue an unconditional apology within 48 hours or face legal consequences. Failing compliance, the Minister warned that she would initiate both civil and criminal proceedings against the BRS and its chief..
The Minister sent the notice via registered post, alleging that the BRS was circulating baseless and malicious content on its official social media platforms, falsely linking her to a corruption scandal in the phone procurement process for Anganwadi workers.
In the notice, Seethakka denied any role in the tendering process, clarifying that the procurement was handled by Telangana Technology Services Limited (TGTS) and executed as per the decisions of the Tender Evaluation Committee. She maintained that the process was institutional and not influenced by her office in any manner.
Rejecting the opposition’s allegations of a Rs 30 crore scam, she said the total tender value itself was Rs 44 crore. She asserted that the accusations lacked evidence and were aimed solely at damaging her personal and political reputation. Holding Chandrashekhar Rao responsible for the content disseminated by the party’s official handles, she alleged a deliberate conspiracy to defame her.
