Sangareddy: In a disturbing incident, villagers in Rasole village of Kangti mandal on Wednesday allegedly tied an Anganwadi teacher to a tree, accusing her husband of cheating them.
The victim, identified as Patlolla Vasanth Kumari (60), has been working as an Anganwadi teacher in the village for several years. Her husband, who earlier worked as an insurance agent with a private company, reportedly collected premium amounts from villagers, but failed to deposit the money with the firm. On learning this, the villagers allegedly demanded that Vasanth Kumari repay the amount.
Though the matter is pending in court, villagers continued to harass her. Even though Vasanth Kumari assured repayment after the court’s verdict, the villagers allegedly tied her to a tree for nearly an hour.
They further threatened to tonsure her head and parade her through the village unless she repaid the money. The villagers allegedly dragged her out of the Anganwadi centre before tying her to the tree. Upon receiving information, Kangti Sub-Inspector Durga Reddy said a case has been registered against five persons and investigation is underway.
