A Golconda resident rescued an eight-year-old girl allegedly kidnapped by an auto driver and handed her safely to her parents. Hyderabad police arrested the accused and later honoured the man for his timely intervention and courage.

Hyderabad: Good Samaritan Mohammed Feroz, a resident of Golconda, who rescued an eight-year-old girl when she was allegedly kidnapped by an auto driver and taken to a secluded place, was felicitated by the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police on Monday.
The incident occurred on April 1, when an auto driver, Saleem, allegedly kidnapped the girl, took her to a secluded place and misbehaved with her.
“Feroz, who was coming out of a mosque, noticed the child crying inside the auto. Suspecting foul play, he immediately intercepted the vehicle. When he questioned the terrified girl, she revealed that the driver was misbehaving with her. As Feroz confronted the accused, the auto driver, sensing danger, abandoned the girl at the spot and fled,” Sajjanar, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, said.
Feroz, after taking the girl into his safe custody, noted down the phone number of the child’s father and informed him. Meanwhile, the girl’s parents were already weeping in distress near the school.
Abids police station Blue Colts constables Sai Krishna and Kedar Singh, who were passing by after finishing their duties near the school, noticed that the father of the child was panicking.
“Upon learning about the girl going missing and the phone call from Feroz, they rushed to Golconda, secured the girl, and safely handed her over to her parents,” the Commissioner said.
In connection with this case, the police arrested the accused, Saleem, on April 2, seized the auto, and remanded him to judicial custody.
On Monday, at the old CP office in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, the Commissioner, along with senior officials, honoured Feroz with a shawl and presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation along with a cash reward.
