ACB recovers cash, gold in raids at sub-registrar office in Hanamkonda

Hanamkonda: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have recovered huge amounts of cash and gold and seized unregistered documents during surprise inspections at the sub-registrar office and residences of SROs here on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, the ACB said that during the searches, 20 unauthorised agents and document writers were found present in the office. An unaccounted amount of Rs 47,450 was seized along with 70 unregistered documents. On verification of mobile phones belonging to the document writers, officials found several WhatsApp chats between SRO-I Jamalapuram Ramanarsimha Rao and SRO-II Davuluri Anand, indicating PhonePe transactions with document writers amounting to approximately Rs 42,03,125 over the past year.


It was also found that 204 undelivered registered documents were in the possession of the SROs. Simultaneous searches at the residential houses of SRO-I and SRO-II led to the recovery of cash worth Rs 24,61,540, 819.5 grams of gold ornaments, and 2.6 kilograms of silver ornaments. Fixed deposits worth Rs 30,10,000 at Kapil Chits were also recovered from the house of Anand.

Apart from the above, several other irregularities were noticed during the course of the surprise check. A detailed report would be submitted to the government for taking necessary action, the statement added.
