10 civic officials suspended over financial irregularities in Badangpet

Ten officials from the erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation, now serving in various wings of GHMC and related departments, were suspended following a vigilance enquiry into alleged large-scale financial irregularities. The enquiry found procedural violations and suspected misappropriation of funds in engineering, sanitation, and event-related works.

Hyderabad: A total of 10 civic body officials, including P. Saraswathi, municipal commissioner, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation, presently working as Deputy Commissioner, Circle–16, Badangpet, and G. Raghu, Municipal Commissioner, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation, presently working in ‘BuildNow’ Cell, at the D T&C P, Hyderabad, were suspended after a vigilance enquiry was conducted into allegations of large-scale financial irregularities.

An official press release said on Wednesday that the enquiry revealed certain irregularities against 10 officials of the erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation, including procedural violations and suspected misappropriation of public funds in the execution of engineering, sanitation and event-related works in Badangpet Circle–16, Shamshabad Zone, GHMC.

The officials were placed under suspension with immediate effect after careful consideration of the available material and the circumstances of the case, with the administration stating that the action was necessary in the interest of administration, the press release added.

The following civic body officials were suspended:

1. P. Saraswathi, municipal commissioner, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation, presently working as Deputy Commissioner, Circle–16, Badangpet.
2. Jyothi, Deputy Executive Engineer, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in Jalpally Circle, GHMC.
3. Venkanna, Deputy Executive Engineer, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in Malakpet Circle, SWM wing, GHMC.
4. A Yadaiah, Deputy Executive Engineer, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in ENC, PH&ME.
5. P Vinil Kumar Goud, Assistant Executive Engineer, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in ENC, PH&ME.
6. G. Raghu, Municipal Commissioner, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in BuildNow Cell, O/o the DT&CP, Hyderabad.
7. Y Yadagiri, Sanitary Inspector, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in Circle-16, Badangpet, GHMC.
8. G. Sridhar Reddy, Manager/AMC, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working in Circle-16, Badangpet, GHMC.
9. D. Nageshwar Rao, Manager, erstwhile Badangpet Municipal Corporation presently working as Manager/AMC, Shamshabad Circle, GHMC.
