A 45-year-old farmer in Siddipet died by suicide amid mounting debts and crop loss fears due to water shortage. Police registered a case as preliminary findings pointed to financial stress and failed harvest expectations

SIDDIPET: A 45-year-old farmer died by suicide in Ragothammapally village of Dubbak mandal in Siddipet district in the early hours of Wednesday, reportedly due to mounting debt and fears of crop loss.
The deceased was identified as Reddy Mohan Reddy, who cultivated paddy. Police said he was under financial stress, with debts amounting to around Rs 4.5 lakh, and was distressed over his crop withering due to lack of water.
He had hoped to repay part of his loans but lost hope of a good harvest, according to preliminary findings.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
