Medak police cracks elderly couple attack case within 3 days, nabbed close relative

Medak: The Medak police solved a gold ornament snatching case within three days, arresting a relative of the victims who attacked an elderly couple at Jangarai village in Chinna Shankarampet mandal.

According to Superintendent of Police D.V. Srinivas Rao, the accused, Varige Venkatanarayana (40), a resident of Nagireddipalli in Kamareddy district, assaulted Tummala Anjaiah (85) and his wife Savithramma on Wednesday afternoon and fled with about four-and-a-half tolas of gold ornaments worn by them. Police said the accused was aware that the couple would be alone at home on the day of the incident.


Based on CCTV footage, the police identified Venkatanarayana, who is related to the couple as the son-in-law of their daughter. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was facing financial difficulties and had targeted the couple to steal the gold.

Taking advantage of the absence of other family members, who had gone to attend a function, the accused arrived on a two-wheeler wearing a mask, attacked the couple and escaped with the ornaments.

The police later arrested the accused and seized the stolen gold and the two-wheeler used in the crime. SP Srinivas Rao appreciated the efforts of Toopran DSP Narendar, Ramayampet Inspector Venkataraja Goud and other personnel for solving the case swiftly. The accused was produced before a court.
