In a statement issued on Saturday, the organization noted that a projectile struck the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant as the third attack on the facility, with no reported casualties or damage.
In a post on its X account, the AEOI wrote, “A projectile hit the power plant site at 12:40 PM on Friday, but no casualties, financial or technical damage was reported.”
The organization also labeled those responsible as the “criminal American-Zionist enemy,” while emphasizing that the plant is a peaceful nuclear facility.
It said that “attacking peaceful nuclear facilities is a clear violation of the international law and a serious threat to regional security.”
The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is Iran’s only operational nuclear power facility and plays a central role in its civilian energy program.
Targeting peaceful nuclear facilities is a clear violation of international regulations and obligations regarding the immunity of these centers from military attacks; an action that could pose serious risks to the security and safety of the region, the statement added.
Hostilities in the region have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint aggression against Iran on Feb. 28.
