Historian Jaisetti Ramanaiah passes away at 85 in Jagtial

Dr Jaisetti Ramanaiah, noted historian and retired lecturer, passed away at 85 in Jagtial due to age-related ailments. The first PhD holder from Jagtial, he authored books on temple history and taught BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Historian Jaisetti Ramanaiah passes away at 85 in Jagtial

Jagtial: A well-known historian, Dr Jaisetti Ramanaiah has passed away due to age-related health problems in the early hours of Friday.

Ramanaiah, who had been bedridden for some time, breathed his last at around 3 am on Friday at the age of 85.


He is survived by two sons and two daughters.

A retired history lecturer, Ramanaiah wrote books on the history of temples. South Indian Temples and Karimnagar District History Culture are among the books authored by him.

Ramanaiah, who joined the teaching profession at an early age, was the first person to earn a PhD degree from Jagtial.

Moreover, he is the teacher of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. While working as history lecturer in Siddipet junior college in 1971, Ramanaiah taught Chandrashekhar Rao.

Chandrshekhar Rao honoured his mentor by felicitating him when the BRS government came to power in 2014. In May 2024, BRS chief visited the house of Ramanaiah in Jagtial and comforted him.

Chandrashekhar, in a statement, expressed his condolences over the death of his mentor. Final rites of Ramanaiah will be held in Jagtial on Saturday.
