Hyderabad: Demanding minimum wages and regularisation of their services, teachers and staff working in KGBVs, Urban Residential Schools and Samagra Shiksha under leadership of Telangana State United Teachers Federation staged a maha dharna at Dharna Chowk here on Thursday.

Participating in the protest, CPI Legislative Party Leader MLA Koonamneni Sambashiva Rao criticised both the Central and State governments, and demanded the government immediately implement minimum wages for all contract employees. He assured the protesters that he would raise the issue in the ongoing Assembly session and strive for an early solution.

TS UTF president Chava Ravi demanded the annual increment of Rs 1,000 recommended by the first Pay Revision Commission for contract employees must be sanctioned immediately. He questioned why KGBV employees are being paid differently in different States even though it was a centrally sponsored scheme. He wanted the Central government to ensure uniform wages across the country and allocate the required additional funds for this purpose.
