Hyderabad: The Bandlaguda police arrested a man for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of mortgaging his house for a loan and collecting money from them.
The arrested man is Shaik Omer Amoodi (24), a resident of Errakunta, while his associates, Mohammed Bin Osman, Mohammed Basith, Ali Jabri and Shakeer Hussain, are absconding.
According to the police, Omer took a house on rent and later contacted some persons who were willing to offer huge loans by taking a house as collateral. A woman came and offered a loan to Omer, who assured to return it soon and offered the house as collateral security for the loan. “Omer pretended to be the owner of the property and showed some forged papers. He then collected money. The victim realised that she was cheated when the genuine owner visited the house and showed all documents of the house,” said Bandlaguda Inspector, R Devendar.
Realizing that she had been cheated, the woman approached the Bandlaguda police. On a complaint from a woman, the police registered a case and arrested Omer. Efforts are being made to nab the other members of the gang.
