Hyderabad: A mother allegedly smothered her 14-month-old baby girl at Golconda on Sunday due to family-related issues.
According to the police, the woman, Ghousia Begum, stayed with her husband Amair Ali at Risala Bazaar in Golconda.
The woman had married Amair against the wishes of her parents and the couple have a daughter, Umme Aaiman. She stayed with her husband and in-laws at a house in Risala Bazaar.
“On Sunday, Ghousia smothered her child using a pillow and killed her. Later she tried to mislead family members by saying the child had gone missing, but they eventually found the infant in the room and rushed her to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead,” said Golconda ACP Syed Faiz.
A case has been registered and the woman has been taken into custody. The woman told the police that she was upset allegedly due to harassment by her husband and in-laws.
