A controversy arose in Medchal–Malkajgiri district after some Class X students were allotted the SSC examination centre at their own school. Officials clarified that a software-based jumbling system allocated centres and ensured mixed seating to maintain fairness.

Hyderabad: A controversy erupted in Medchal–Malkajgiri district after some Class X students were allotted the SSC Public Examination centre in their own school on the first day of the examination on Saturday.
The issue surfaced at New Era School, which falls under the Kukatpally zone, where 337 students registered for the exams. This zone has four examination centres, and a total of 857 students from 13 different schools were distributed among these centres.
However, the issue came into limelight after 80 students from New Era School were allotted the exam centre in their own school. This has raised serious concerns among parents from other schools who questioned such an arrangement.
Meanwhile, Medchal–Malkajgiri district educational officer, I Vijaya Kumari, clarified that centre allotment was done through a software used for the jumbling system that automatically assigns students to centres across schools.
Although some students appear in their own school, the seating arrangement comprises a mix of students from multiple schools, ensuring that students from the same school are not seated together in one place, she said.
Further, only government teachers were appointed to conduct the examinations at the centre. In addition, four sitting squads from the Revenue department were deployed to monitor the exams and prevent any irregularities, she added.
