GHMC inspects 252 commercial buildings for fire safety compliance

Hyderabad: The GHMC’s town planning wing officials on Saturday conducted inspections on 252 commercial buildings and checked fire safety measures.

A press release said the town planning staff assessed fire safety arrangements in these buildings and educated building owners and managers on fire prevention.

Officials checked hazardous materials stored in cellars and cautioned building owners and managers to remove such material immediately. They also issued notices to owners to ensure fire safety equipment was installed or repaired promptly where it was found absent or non-functional.

While many commercial buildings had fire safety arrangements, officials noted some deficiencies and said follow-up actions would be taken to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations in such buildings, the release said.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan said such inspections would continue in the city to prevent fire accidents and ensure fire safety.
