Police arrested a 40-year-old man in Kusumanchi mandal of Khammam district for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl. The accused was booked under the POCSO Act and produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody

Khammam: A 40-year-old man, who allegedly sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl in Kusumanchi mandal, was arrested and booked under provisions of the POCSO Act.
The accused is said to have raped the girl when her parents went out for work on Tuesday, after which he fled the village.
The child, who bled profusely and suffered severe pain, narrated the incident to her parents when they returned home in the evening. They rushed her to the hospital for treatment. After receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and registered a case against the accused under provisions of the POCSO Act.
Police arrested the accused, Gopagani Rambabu, on Wednesday and produced him before a court, which sent him to judicial remand. The girl’s family and villagers demanded severe punishment for the accused.
