Nearly 8,000 chickens died within a week at a poultry farm in Ande village of Mirudoddi mandal in Siddipet district due to unknown reasons. Authorities have collected samples while veterinarians were alerted as farmers suspect rising temperatures may have caused the deaths

Rising heat suspected in mass chicken deaths at Siddipet poultry farm

Siddipet: Nearly 8,000 chickens died over the past one week at a poultry farm in Ande village of Mirudoddi mandal due to unknown reasons, leaving poultry farmers shocked.

The chick-supplying company collected samples from the farm and was trying to ascertain the reason behind the mass death of the birds. As temperatures have increased considerably in Siddipet over the past few days, farmers suspect that the heat might have affected the birds.


Meanwhile, officials of the Animal Husbandry Department have placed veterinary doctors on high alert. Veterinary doctors will visit villages to meet poultry farmers and guide them on the precautions that need to be taken during the summer.
