Iran, Turkey presidents discuss war developments on phone



During the phone call, President Pezeshkian said that Iran is ready to resolve misunderstandings regarding the media claims of missile attack on neighboring Turkey during Iran-US-Israel war. 

Turing to the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, President Pezeshkian stated that the US and the Israeli regime are trying to sow seeds of discord between Iran and its neighbors as well as accusing Iran of carrying out missile attacks on friendly and brotherly country of Turkey through media outlets affiliated to them (US and Israel).

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always declared its readiness to reduce tension in the region, provided that the airspace and soil of its neighbors are not used to attack Iranian people, Pezeshkian highlighted.

The president of Turkey, for his part, condoled the martyrdom of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders and civilians, especially innocent schoolchildren who were killed in Minab, southern province of Hormozgan, following the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. 

Erdogan pointed to Turkey’s government continued efforts to reduce tensions in the region, emphasizing, “We have announced that interference in Iran’s internal affairs is unacceptable, and increasing tensions between regional countries is not in interests of neighboring countries.”

At this juncture, he called on both Iran and the United States to return to the negotiating table and resolve their difference through diplomatic and political channels.

Turkish president also seized this opportunity to congratulate the appointment of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
