Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron held a telephone conversation late on Sunday to discuss the latest war developments in the region.
During the phone call, the two presidents exchanged their views on the latest developments and current situation in the region caused by the illegal war imposed by the United States and Israeli regime against Iran.
It is for the second time that the United States launched an unlawful and illegal attack against Iran during the negotiations in coordination with the Israeli regime, Pezeshkian said, describing the move as a gross violation of the international law and the UN Charter.
He also referred to the US and Israeli attacks on civilian targets, including schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructures, stressing that the armed forces of the country will respond to the enemies’ aggression decisively.
President Pezeshkian added that all measures taken by Iran are within the framework of self-defense, warning any involvement by other countries, including France, whether offensive or defensive, in support of the aggressors would be considered as direct participation in the war.
Such actions would only complicate and escalate the situation in the region, the president stated, stressing that the Iranian government, people, and armed forces remain firmly determined to defend the country.
The president of France, for his part, expressed his regret over the martyrdom of Iranian people by US and Israeli aggression, stating that Paris considers these attacks ‘violation of the international law’.
France does not have any intervention in this war, Macron emphasized, adding that his country is consulting with other states to contain the tension in the region and prevent intensification of the situation.
The two presidents also exchange their views on the consular issues including prisoners of the two countries.
