Kadiyam Srihari will face consequences in court over defection, says KP Vivekanand

Hyderabad: Qutbullapur MLA KP Vivekanand said BRS turncoat MLA from Station Ghanpur, Kadiyam Srihari, might have been able to mislead Speaker G Prasad Kumar on his defection, but would learn a lesson in court.

Srihari appeared for a hearing on the disqualification petition at the Speaker’s Office here on Saturday. Lawyers representing the Qutbullapur MLA cross-examined Srihari’s counsel during the hearing, which continued until evening. Speaking to media persons, KP Vivekanand said Kadiyam Srihari had dug his own political grave. Despite being an experienced politician, he appeared to be at a crossroads and was giving vague replies. During the hearing, he claimed to be associated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, but in the public domain, he continued to defy the party’s directions and act against its interests, Vivekanand said.

“When asked about his photographs in media and social media, Srihari claimed them to be AI generated. Such is his condition,” Vivekanand said.

Among the 10 BRS turncoat MLAs facing defection charges, the Speaker has given a clean chit to eight legislators, citing lack of evidence. Hearings in respect of two MLAs, including Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari, are currently underway. Nagender, who skipped the hearing on Friday, has been directed to appear on Monday.

The Speaker is expected to take a decision on the defection cases in the coming days.
