Adilabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday urged the State government to expedite the construction of the IT Tower in Adilabad to generate jobs for local youth. He said the first phase of construction was currently under way and was expected to generate employment for about 700 youth. Upon completion of the second phase, the facility could provide jobs to 6,000 to 7,000 people, he added.
He appealed to the State government to ensure that jobs were immediately filled not only in the upcoming Adilabad IT Tower but also in the already constructed IT Tower in Nizamabad, where vacancies remain.
After visiting the under-construction facility, Rama Rao said the IT Tower sanctioned in Adilabad during the previous BRS regime reflected former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s vision to expand the IT sector to backward and tribal districts. He stated that the BRS government had decided to establish IT Towers in 10 locations across the State to decentralise growth and facilitate IT expansion.
He also raised the issue of the Cement Corporation of India factory in Adilabad, accusing both the Centre and the State governments of failing to reopen it. Referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s earlier assurance during his district visit, he said the responsibility now lies with BJP MPs and MLAs to fulfil that promise.
