Four senior CPI (Maoist) leaders, including State Committee Secretary Damodar and member Ganganna, surrendered before Telangana police in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Four senior leaders of CPI (Maoist) including Tippiri Thirupathi alias Devji, Malla Raji Reddy alias Sangram, Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar and Nune Narsimha Reddy alias Ganganna surrendered before the Telangana police on Tuesday.

Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy said that it is a major setback to the CPI (Maoist) as its last surviving apex organisational body has effectively collapsed.


“Simultaneously, the Telangana State Committee has been rendered defunct upon reintegration of Telangana State Committee Secretary Damodar and State Committee member Ganganna,” said DGP Telangana.

He said that since 2024, a total of 591 Maoists of different ranks have surrendered before the Telangana police.

As on date, 11 underground CPI (Maoist ) cadres natives of Telangana are left, while only two are working in the Telangana State Committee. The remaining are operating in other States, including Chhattisgarh.
