Nagarkurnool: The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes visited Kummera village here on Tuesday and inquired with locals about the death of a two-month-old baby in an alleged jostling incident at the Mallanna temple. The Commission Chairman G Niranjan, along with other members, visited the village. They were accompanied by District Collector B Santosh and senior officials during the visit.
Speaking to media persons, G Niranjan said there were some lapses in the arrangements at the temple fair. “About 10,000 devotees arrive at the temple for darshan, but the revenue and endowments departments failed to make the required arrangements,” Niranjan said. “It also came to our notice that Ganesh and other persons were involved in a scuffle.” The Commission issued clear instructions to the District Collector and other line departments to ensure that such incidents do not recur, he said.
“The Commission will stand by the BCs and any injustice towards the community members will not be tolerated,” Niranjan said, adding that based on the District Collector’s report, the Commission would make its recommendations to the State government. The Commission members are also learnt to have met the infant’s parents and spoken to them about the incident.
