The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes has sought reports from the Nagarkurnool District Collector and Endowments Department on the death of a two-month-old baby during a stampede at Kummera village following alleged caste discrimination at a village fair

Hyderabad: The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes has sought a detailed report on the infant’s death at Kummera village from the District Collector, Nagarkurnool, and the Telangana Endowments Department within three days.
Commission Chairman S Niranjan on Monday shared newspaper clippings on caste discrimination and denial of entry into the village fair to a BC community family. The incident led to a stampede and the death of a two-month-old baby at Kummera on Thursday, he said.
He asked Nagarkurnool Collector B Santosh to enquire into the matter and submit a detailed report to the Commission within three days. Similarly, Endowments Commissioner S Harish was also asked to enquire into the issue and submit a detailed report, besides details of arrangements made by the Endowments Department for conducting the jathara.
