Nirmal: BJP state council member Akula Srinivas on Wednesday said they would form a coalition with the BRS to develop Khanapur municipality.
In a press statement, Srinivas said they were ready to give the post of vice-chairperson to a BRS councillor if the party extended its support in capturing the post of chairperson of the 12-member Khanapur municipality. He stated they were also ready to support the BRS in securing the chairperson post if the party gave away the vice-chairperson and four co-opted members to the BJP.
The special meeting meant for election of both the chairperson and vice-chairperson was postponed due to lack of quorum on Monday and Tuesday as well, resulting in uncertainty over the two posts. While the BRS and BJP were tied with four wards each, the Congress stood in the second spot with three wards and an independent won from one ward. This led to a hung verdict.
