A BJP candidate contesting from Ward No. 10 in Luxettipet municipality died of an ailment on the day of vote counting. Her death has led to uncertainty over the ward’s result, with authorities yet to decide on a fresh poll or alternative outcome.

Mancherial: A BJP candidate contesting from Ward No. 10 in Luxettipet municipality died of an ailment on the day of counting of votes on Friday.

Family members and locals said Battini Ellamma, 65, breathed her last early in the morning. Following her death, uncertainty prevailed over the result of the ward. It remains to be seen whether a fresh election will be held in the ward or whether another candidate will be declared elected.


Electors were left perplexed over the situation, wondering what would happen if Ellamma secured victory in the polls.

A total of 111 nominees belonging to the BRS, Congress and BJP, besides other registered parties and two Independents, are in the fray from 22 wards of Luxettipet municipality. The results are expected to be declared by evening.
