Kothagudem: No ballot boxes were misused in the municipal corporation elections on Wednesday, said Kothagudem Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner K Sujatha with reference to reports of an empty ballot box at Paloncha police station.
In a statement here on Thursday she explained that after the polling was over the reserve ballot box belonging to division number 47 and polling station number 156 was taken from the polling station to the reception centre at Anubose College in an escort vehicle.
After reaching the reception centre, the escort vehicle staff took the ballot from the reception centre to Paloncha police station without noticing it. The concerned presiding officer, zonal officer and the concerned staff who immediately noticed the matter reached the police station and took the said ballot box to the strong room at Anubose College in an escort vehicle.
Municipal corporation elections were conducted smoothly and in accordance with the rules and regulations. All the ballot boxes and related documents used for polling were taken to the strong room at Anubose College and preserved, she added.
