Tapasya and Diza win gold at National powerlifting championship

Telangana sisters Surineni Tapasya and Diza, students of Oxford School, won gold medals at the National Powerlifting Championship in Delhi. Tapasya lifted 217.5 kg in the under-13 category while Diza secured three golds with a total lift of 88 kg

Tapasya and Diza win gold at National powerlifting championship

Hyderabad: Surineni Tapasya and Diza of Telangana won gold medals in the National Powerlifting Championship held in Delhi.

Both Tapasya and Diza are students of Oxford School.


In the sub-junior under-13 category, 44 kg event, Tapasya Rao lifted 80 kg in squat, 32.5 kg in bench press and 105 kg in deadlift. Overall, she lifted 217.5 kg and clinched three gold medals in squat, bench press and deadlift.

Her sister, Surineni Diza, bagged three gold medals in the 20 kg category. Diza lifted 32.5 kg in squat, 17.5 kg in bench press and 40 kg in deadlift. Overall, she lifted 88 kg and secured first place in the competition.
