Interestingly, local residents said there was a close contest between BJP candidate Mahadevappa and his cousin Mogulappa, who is representing the BRS. Both belong to the ST community.
BJP State president N Ramchander Rao condemned the death of the party candidate and alleged that Congress leaders were exerting pressure on BJP candidates and threatening them with dire consequences.
“The Congress is ruining democratic values and misusing power even in the municipal elections,” Ramchander Rao said in a statement.
Following the death of the BJP candidate, uncertainty prevails over the conduct of elections in the sixth ward. An official announcement is awaited in this regard.
