Mancherial: A warden, K Sujatha, was placed under suspension for allegedly showing negligence in providing food to inmates of a government-run Integrated SC hostel in Bellampalli town, following the hospitalisation of students recently. An order to this effect was issued on Sunday evening.
As per the order, Sujatha was suspended for dereliction of duties, leading to the hospitalisation of 13 students due to consumption of worm-infested food. She was asked not to leave headquarters until further orders were issued. Officials said that a show-cause notice was already served to the warden seeking her explanation.
The students fainted after having dinner on February 6. They alleged that they were forced to consume a curry containing worms and were shifted to a hospital, from where they were discharged on Saturday. Subsequently, an inquiry was conducted into the incident. Based on a report filed by officials, action was initiated against the warden.
