Karimnagar: Senior BRS leader B. Vinod Kumar condemned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks alleging a “Fevicol bond” between the BJP and the BRS, calling the statement baseless and misleading.
Addressing reporters here on Friday, Vinod Kumar rebutted the criticism of Revanth Reddy that despite the State assembly passing a resolution the Centre was not going ahead with the CBI probe and that it proved the collusion between the BJP and the BRS.
He pointed out that the delay in a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project was due to High Court orders, not political collusion.
He said the High Court had directed that no action be taken in the case based on petitions filed by political leaders and senior officials. Under such circumstances, he argued, allegations of political understanding between the BJP and the BRS were unfounded.
Vinod Kumar questioned whether similar allegations of collusion could be made against AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that both Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi were questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case. He said such claims would be irresponsible, as the matter was still under investigation.
However, he alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay were acting in tandem. He cited Revanth Reddy’s decision to address a public meeting at Gumlapur in Choppadandi constituency, instead of Karimnagar where municipal elections are underway, as evidence.
While Congress leaders were accusing the BRS of having links with the BJP, Vinod Kumar said the BJP was making similar allegations against the BRS.
“Both Congress and BJP are afraid of the BRS,” he asserted.
