Panic spread in Bheempur mandal after a tiger from Maharashtra crossed the Penganga River and entered forest areas, killing cattle. Forest officials have installed CCTV cameras and formed special teams to track the animal and prevent casualties.

Adilabad: A tiger scare has gripped the district once again, with a tiger from neighbouring Maharashtra straying into the forests of Bheempur mandal after crossing the Penganga river, triggering panic among residents of several villages, including those living along the river banks and in forest fringe areas.
Residents of Pippalkoti and surrounding villages claimed that the tiger, which killed a cow three days ago, was wandering on the outskirts of forests and agricultural fields. They urged Forest officials to closely track the animal’s movement to prevent casualties, stating that villagers were living under constant fear following its presence.
The tiger, which has been moving constantly in search of territory and prey, was sighted on the fringes of Thamsi (K), Gollaghat, Gunjala and Pippalkota villages in Bheempur mandal, all located along the river bank. It attacked a cow grazing in a farm and killed it on Tuesday, triggering panic among farmers. Forest officials confirmed that a tiger was responsible for the cattle kill.
Forest officials said a tiger residing in Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Yavatmal district might have entered the district’s forests after crossing the Penganga about a fortnight ago. They said 10 CCTV cameras had been installed to monitor the tiger’s movement and that residents of villages likely to be affected had already been cautioned. Two special teams have also been formed, they added.
It may be recalled that a tiger from TWS had drifted into the district two months ago and returned to the sanctuary after staying here for around two weeks.
