Hyderabad: Telangana men finished second while the women’s team settled for third place in the Para Federation Cup throwball championship in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
In the men’s section, Andhra Pradesh emerged champion while Haryana took third place.
Telangana teams were coached by Singarapu Babu.
In the women’s category, Jharkhand won the title while Rajasthan finished second.
“The Telangana women’s team’s success reflected strong preparation and confidence, supported by strategic planning, encouragement and belief,” coach Babu said.
“The Para Throwball Federation of India (PTFI) declared the National Federation Cup 2026 as the selection trial event for the second Asian championship to be held in Malaysia, and those who have done exceptionally well here have a chance to represent India,” he said.
“Despite physical challenges, Telangana’s para athletes demonstrated resilience, determination and excellence, serving as a strong inspiration to society and the youth,” said Prashanth, secretary of Telangana Para Sports Association.
“The achievements were made possible through the collective efforts of coaches, support staff, organisers and families. Through this Federation Cup, Telangana reaffirmed its strong presence in para throwball at the national stage, with podium finishes in both men’s and women’s categories,” he said.
