SERP has signed an MoU with Granules India to conduct breast and cervical cancer screening for women in Sangareddy district. The initiative aims at early detection through screening and awareness programmes in rural areas with SHG support.

Sangareddy: With an aim to identify breast cancer and cervical cancer cases among women at an early stage, the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Granules India to carry out cancer screening in Sangareddy district.
SERP Chief Executive Officer Divya Devarajan and Granules India Chief Executive Officer Uma Chigurupati exchanged copies of the MoU during a programme held here on Wednesday evening. The screening programme will be carried out in collaboration with the UC Breast Foundation, founded by noted oncologist Dr Pragnya Chigurpati Narra.
Speaking on the occasion, Divya Devarajan said screening and awareness programmes would be conducted for women in rural areas with the support of Self Help Group women. She said efforts would also be made to address and clarify apprehensions among women regarding cancer.
District Collector P Pravinya and others were present.
