Eight arrested for procuring illegal teak timber in Adilabad

Adilabad: Eight persons were arrested for allegedly procuring illegal teak timber at different under-construction houses in Chintaguda village in Ichoda mandal on Sunday. The value of the timber was assessed at Rs 2 lakh.

Forest officials, in a statement, said that timber was seized from the houses of eight persons in the village during surprise inspections carried out following a tip-off. A case was registered against the eight persons and the accused were arrested. The eight were produced before a court and sent to judicial remand.
