Hyderabad: The 79th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2025-26 Final Round began in Dhakuakhana and Silapathar (Assam) on Wednesday, with defending champions West Bengal recording a commanding 4-0 victory over Nagaland.

With the win, West Bengal moved to the top of the table on goal difference, as Tamil Nadu (1-0 against hosts Assam) and Rajasthan (3-2 against Uttarakhand) also secured three points each.


Former champions Tamil Nadu started their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Assam in Group A at the Silapathar Football Stadium. Devadath S scored the decisive goal in the third minute to give Tamil Nadu a winning start.
