The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases starting on April 19 and concluding on June 1. With just over a week to go before the mega election cycle kicks off in India, findings by the Association for Democratic Rights, a private election monitoring group, reveal that one in every three candidates is a crorepati. However, the same group has also revealed that several candidates have declared zero assets.
Of the 10 candidates who have declared zero assets in their election affidavits, eight are from Tamil Nadu, while two are from Maharashtra.

Now, speaking of wealth and assets, about 450 candidates in the first phase are crorepatis. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads the list with 69 such candidates, followed by the Congress (49), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) (35), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) (21), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) (18), and Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with four each.
Among these, AIADMK candidates have the highest average assets at Rs 35.61 crore, followed by DMK with Rs 31.22 crore, Congress with Rs 27.79 crore, and BJP with Rs 22.37 crore.
