The 16th Green Cementech 2020 began online for the first time in the 16-year history of the pioneering cement sector conference, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA).

With the right policies in place and support from the government, the Indian cement industry can even increase its production capacity and contribute significantly to India’s global trade and exports,” he said.

The cement industry has to meet this challenge with sustainability in mind. To its advantage, the cement industry is perfectly transparent in sharing best practices and latest knowledge within the sector,” he said.
Other panelists included Mr Raju Goyal, Co-Chairman, Green Cementech 2020, and Chief Technical Officer, UltraTech Cement Limited, and Mr K N Rao, Co-Chairman, Green Cementech 2020. The inaugural session of the 16th Green Cementech was also marked by the online announcement of GreenCo rating certification awards, which was another first. This year, the Platinum award was given to Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, and Gold awards went to ACC Wadi Cement Works and JK Cement Works.
Each year since 2004, Green Cementech brings together the best minds in the industry to share insights and discuss the way forward. The Indian cement industry is only next to China’s in its production capacity, with 545 Million Tonnes of cement produced annually, and is among the world’s most energy efficient industries going by specific energy consumption.
The three-day conference is being held on a virtual platform this year in keeping with safeguards made imperative by the coronavirus pandemic. Apart from attracting national and international leaders of the cement industry, the Green Cementech is a major congregation point for companies small and large, to exhibit their latest and best products and technologies. This year, the exhibition has been hosted online, with participants having access to digital kiosks of participating companies. Brochures of products and technologies on this virtual exhibit can be downloaded by all registered participants.
For the benefit of all stakeholders and participants, a digital library has been added to the 16th Green Cementech virtual conference. All participants get full access tosoftcopiesofCII’s publications for the cement sector, such as ‘Energy Benchmarking’, ‘Low Carbon Technology Roadmap’, ‘Waste Heat Recovery Manual’, etc.
